The impact of data centers on local water supplies is becoming increasingly evident. In Iowa, USA, data centers are consuming up to one-fifth of the water used by some cities. This is particularly concerning given that Iowa is experiencing one of its most prolonged droughts in decades. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported that by mid-March, about 85% of the state was in drought condition.
